Council moves to give Sandwich heritage tag
But Kevin Flood, who owns a substantial number of homes on Indian Road which he rents primarily to university students, came to council to protest the heritage designation. There is apparently a plan afoot by some landlords to take down their Indian Road homes and build new multiplex units for students.
Flood said there is no historical value to any homes on Indian Road and noted how about 25 are already boarded up.
"They are not heritage and should not be part of (the study)," said Flood.
That's two owners/developers now expressing a desire to tear down houses and rebuild, neither one of which is the Bridge Company. The Buschante Development Group is already being held up, now Mr. Flood.
How many other owners in Sandwich are experiencing delays and problems due to the City's actions? Are any businesses being affected by this? At what point will these owners and developers begin to walk away from doing business in Windsor?
One last question for everyone. Any idea what category the majority of development in the Sandwich area falls into, say in the last ten years?
